V Festival : Overview of The 'BBC Radio 1 Summer of Dance' Stage

By EmmaVDB

Sunday 21 August was the 21st edition of the V festival in Chelmsford and Stafforshine. And for this reason, the BBC RADIO 1 had its own stage called the BBC RADIO 1 SUMMER OF DANCE STAGE.

The most loyal listeners might have some clues, Pete Tong Pete Tong and Annie Mac Annie Mac were there. And as usual, they brought with them famous names : Danny Howard Danny Howard, Weston Park, Monki, Wilkinson, Gorgon City, Hylands Park, DJ EZ and… Eric Prydz Eric Prydz !

Consequently, the last Annie Mac Annie Mac's Friday Night Episode was nothing but a 4-hour set, compiling her own performance and those from Mk MK, MistaJam, DJ EZ, Danny Howard Danny Howard and Eric Prydz Eric Prydz from Chelmsford.

The first minutes of the show already announce the general ambience of the place with the famous « This Is Not How I Wake Up But It's How I Look Now » that Annie drops every Friday. The party was going on and we can already hear, on the last Friday Night show, the typical English '« Woah ! eh ! eh ! eh ! ». Annie dropped, as always, some tech-house and pops with a few famous vocals. Indeed, she didn’t hesitate to play the ‘Let’s Go Dancing’ vocal on a big house track before playing some soul with ‘Take me away’ by S.K.T.

M.K then took over the stage and let the mike on to his colleague, Annie, who suddenly became the MC of the show. Mk MK began with some commercial tracks but don’t worry : he also had a tech-house part and he even dropped a remix of ‘Middle’ by Snake at the end of his set.

The crowd became bigger and bigger and MistaJam was even the first to realize this. He said : « I see thousand, thousand of ravers ». The most loyal listeners among us will be pleased to hear such a good set full of classics such as ‘Show Me Love’, ‘Push The Feeling On’, ‘What The Fuck’, ‘Rock The Funky Beat’ intermingled with some electronic tracks like ‘Trouble’ by Offaiah, ‘Work’ by Masters At Work or ‘Crank It’ by Kideko & George Kwali before ending up his set with ‘Calabria’ and some rap/hip-hop vocals like ‘Hot Line Bling’ by Drake.

DJ EZ quickly played ‘My Love’ by Route 94 before a few minutes of trap and drum and bas. Like MistaJam, DJ EZ didn’t hesitate before embellishing his tracks with some classics such as ‘Gala Freed From Desire » or « You Got Love ».

The famous radio broadcaster, Danny Howard Danny Howard, then took control of the BBC RADIO 1 DANCE OF SUMMER STAGE in order to bring us the finest minimal house!

Finally, after 3 hours of varied electronic music, Eric Prydz Eric Prydz was ready to head the festival by playing the blow-minding ‘NOPUS ID’, following by ‘Every Day’ before going into a Pryda and then a Cirez D session. He ended up the show with a classic of the electronic music : ‘Lazer Beams’ before dropping ‘Mirage’ and the fabulous ‘Opus’, which, once again, will send you to seventh heaven.
